COMINO ISLAND

In is a small island between Malta and Gozo, with an area of only 3.5 km2, and its name comes from the large number of the plant of cumin which had by the island. It is a nature reserve and bird sanctuary and is notable for being a quiet, since it is an island that is practically deserted: the number of people who have their permanent residence there, are counted with the fingers of the hand.

Most of its coastline are cliffs full of grottos and caves, and there are hardly any buildings. They include the Bay of Santa María and San Nicolás, with its turquoise beaches and their funds appreciated by divers. Although the most famous beach is the so-called Blue Lagoon (Blue Lagoon), which is located between the island of Comino and Cominotto.

In summer, cumin is filled of travelers eager to swim in these waters, seeking above all a paradise for relaxation, diving or scuba diving. But in winter, the island is for those who prefer the tranquility, beautiful hiking routes and take pictures. Anyway in spring and autumn is when most you can enjoy since there is no large agglomerations.
