ISLAND OF SARDINIA


It is the second largest island in the Mediterranean, the eighth of Europe size and the cuadragesimo eighth in the world. As an administrative entity is called autonomous Region of Sardinia and is an autonomous region with special status within the Republic of Italy.

It is an Italian island in the Centre of the Western Mediterranean Sea, located between Corsica to the North, Italy to the East, Tunisia regarding the peninsula, and with strong peculiarities, obtained the status of autonomous region of Italy to the South, and the Balearic Islands to the West. Attached to Italy after a long isolation, culturally didesde on February 28, 1948. The most spoken languages in Sardinia are the Italian and Sardinian.

Sardinia is an autonomous region of Italy. The regional capital is Cagliari. The region is divided into 8 provinces: Cagliari, Sassari, Nuoro, Oristano, Olbia-Tempio, Ogliastra, Carbonia-Iglesias and Medio Campidano.


By extension, Sardinia is the second largest island in the Mediterranean after Sicily.

The island has numerous and extraordinary tourist areas, including the Emerald Coast and Gennargentu. The island is particularly famous for its beaches, but is also rich in other interesting places. Hire archaeological remains constitute a perfectly valid and additional tourist attraction by themselves.
